Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a functional gastrointestinal disorder that affects millions of adults in the United States. It is characterized by chronic or recurring abdominal pain, bloating, and altered bowel habits. IBS-D involves predominant diarrhea and urgency, while IBS-M involves alternating episodes of diarrhea and constipation.
